In this promo video for a music school, I got to stretch my
wings a bit, and I had fun making the edit come alive with
quick cuts and flashes... all while still getting the messaging
across.

Now viewing: Video Editing
Video editing always came easy to me. I started editing on the Avid years ago, but eventually switched to Final Cut Pro. I have used Premiere, too. I suppose I am most proficient in FCP, but which one I edit on is of little importance to me. They are all sophisticated, advanced editing tools. Cutting is cutting, no matter which interface you do it in.
For me, it's all about telling a story. Moving the viewer in an emotional way. Making the meager magnificent. Holding on to (or cutting quickly from) that sequence to make it more impactful. Those kinds of decisions are what an editor does, and in the end, no one cares what software it was edited in.
After cutting the concert footage, which ran on Events In
Demand a few years back, I recently cut this promo for the
re-release following Nate Dogg's passing a few months ago.

This was one of my favorite projects... one of the 18 Phil
Driscoll songs that I cut for his direct to DVD concert. We did
all the projected animation in the windows of the Konstantin
Basillica, in Trier, Germany, as well.
